Lands of America recently had $569 million in land and other rural acreage for sale for sale in the Great Lakes State. This represents a combined 110,742 acres of Michigan land for sale. Of Michigan's 83 counties, Marquette County had the most land and rural real estate for sale. The most expensive piece of land listed for sale in Michigan on Lands of America recently was $8 million, though the median price for land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in Michigan was $199,769. The average price of land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in Michigan was $331,984. There was 258 acres of sold land in Michigan recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a decrease in sales activity over July 2018 data. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $898,100. Marquette County recorded the most land sales recently in the state. Along with public hunting lands, Michigan boasts over two million acres of private land managed as commercial forest for hunters to track white-tailed deer, elk, bear, grouse and more. Bounded by four Great Lakes, it's fair to say the fishing ain't bad, either. As befits a state with excellent hunting for big and small game like deer, waterfowl and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Michigan. The state has also been ranked among the ten best states for the cost of living by U.S. News & World Report. In terms of its size, Michigan is the country's 11th-largest state, covering an area of 96,810 square miles (62 million acres). Of its total landmass, 56,539 square miles (58 percent) covers land area, while the remaining 40,175 square miles is made up of water.
